On October 20, 2025, the Inauguration Ceremony of the International Mediation Organization was held in Hong Kong.

The ceremony’s guests of honor were John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Hua Chunying, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

Chief Executive of Hong Kong noted the significance of Hong Kong’s choice as the headquarters of the world's first intergovernmental international organization dedicated to resolving disputes through mediation.

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Consulate General of Belarus participated in the Ceremony.

Ahead of the Ceremony, the first meeting of the Organization’s Governing Council was held, where the main documents for the daily work of the international organization were approved and the Secretariat was elected.

Representatives of Belarusian government agencies participated in the approval of the documents adopted today as delegates of the signatory state to the Convention Establishing the International Mediation Organization. The ratification process is currently ongoing in our country.

Eight countries have currently ratified the Convention: Venezuela, Dominica, Kiribati, China, Kenya, the Congo, Nicaragua, and Pakistan.
